About Us
Jeff and Jenika Downs
Jeff Downs grew up outside of Montrose and graduated from Ridgway High School in 2000. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from Cal Poly University, San Luis Obispo, where he studied conventional animal husbandry and food safety. This led him to search for more sustainable and humane practices of raising animals.
Jeff met his wife, Jenika, through his college roommate during his senior year at college. Jenika was taking a course on sustainability at UC Berkeley and Joel Salatin was the guest speaker for the first class. She was so impressed with the presentation she shared the video with Jeff and the two ended up visiting Salatin’s PolyFace Farms in Virginia. This experience solidified Jeff’s conviction to pursue the sustainable agriculture model for its various benefits to your health, the animal’s welfare and the environment alike.
Jeff and Jenika are proud to provide their community with a high quality product and hope to collectively work towards raising the standard of what we consume and how we impact our surroundings.
